Life=Capital of The Future

When you think about your future, do you realize the value of your past experiences? Everything is connected: in order to achieve new goals you have to realize your building the future right now. Every step is decisive to become the person you want to be.

In 2016, Forbes shared an article explaining that in the last century, owning things was “the marker of the middle class.” According to them, having more money allowed us to own more goods in the past. As manufacturing became less expensive, the barrier to own a great deal of stuff was lowered. So people living at -or below- the poverty level, were able to own plenty of things. Needless to say, owning stuff was no longer a precise indicator of our relative wealth.

That brings us to the central question of this post: if owning things doesn’t make you wealthier, what does? The answer is right in front of you. Have you seen how people are living in this century? How’s the millennial kind of life? What do we collect?

The first thing that comes to our minds is that we’re living a digitalized life, and it all started with the internet. The arrival of the internet made us feel like everything was going faster, which had a huge impact in the way societies live, and everything keeps on changing. For example: today we can notice there’s a thriving “minimalist” movement, that continues growing in an accelerated way.

Nowadays there’s a general idea of living “in the present moment”. Priorities have changed for most of us, and we can see how a lot of people have decided to own much less and share much more. So this is the answer! Sharing your time, your lifestyle and your stories is what truly has value in today’s shared economy. Your life experience is what actually makes you “wealthy”.

Perfect examples of the shared economy model are platforms such as Airbnb and Uber, those we all know. Their founders knew that everyone owns something that can respond to someone else’s needs. The key factor was to offer a place where regular people were allowed to become a service provider, and therefore to connect with users for the benefit of both.

What’s the important thing here? To realize that we all have a knowledge that can be useful for someone else. The future is now, and it’s all about real people doing great things in the real world.

So, take advantage of the fact that you have experiences to share! It doesn’t matter if you consider them big or small, every little action and story counts. In this era we are all influencers! Make the list of all the things you’ve done and start turning them into guides to lead others.

What are you waiting for? Be part of the community where you can create real connections. Let’s give real value to what we are, just by sharing our dreams and stories.
